As I think you all know by now the club has decided to name the tree that is sometimes in play at the cricket ground The Alan Wright Tree. As a club we like the idea of Alan being able to continue to have an influence on matches in the future by preventing the odd four when the ball hits his tree.
The club has commissioned Ed Waites to create a plate that will be attached to the tree as a permanent and constant reminder of Alan’s contribution to the club. Ed grew up in Chippenham, played cricket for many years with Alan and is now a world renowned sculptor whose work is included in public, corporate, private and royal collections around the world. The plate he has created is a unique and fitting tribute to Alan. The club wishes to mark this important addition to the ground with a short ceremony before the season starts on Saturday April 15th at 1pm. It would be nice to have as many of Alan’s family and friends there for this as possible, so please do your best to come along and invite any friends you have who knew Alan.
The club will be providing teas, coffees and also have the barbecue going from 12.30pm for those that can attend.
I hope this all makes sense but please let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise hope to see as many of you as possible there on Saturday 15th April.
Best regards,
Darren
